City car driving simulator bmw m512/11/2022 ![]() That’s just the start of his explanation. But no, for the next M car BMW is doing… a sport utility vehicle. Any one of those would be a perfect and perfectly fitting successor. So when BMW unveiled what is only the second car in its history to come as an M-only at Art Basel Miami Beach two days ago, you might expect something like a production version of the Vision M of two years ago, or 2008’s beautiful M1 tribute design study, or even some sort of successor to the svelte and sporty BMW i8. The M1 even went on to star in its own racing series in 1979-80, with no less a pair of champions than Niki Lauda winning the first year and Nelson Piquet winning the second. Whenever someone comes up with a list of the greatest cars from every era or even every year, you really have to thank BMW for making the M1 in an era when the rest of the industry was struggling with oil embargoes and emissions regulations instead of horsepower and outrageous design. ![]() It was so glorious that it defined its own era of supercardom. They only made 453 of those Giugiaro-designed mid-engined supercars. And what an M that one was: the 1978-81 M1.

1980s aerobic dance video12/8/2022 Here are some recommendations for working out, '80s style. For those days when you just want to get your heart pumping, and maybe have a laugh while you're at it, Jane Fonda or Richard Simmons might just be the quarantine teacher you're looking for. Luckily for us, a trove of retro workout videos live on YouTube. But they're still a means to an end, not an experience in and of themself. Yes, "fun" dance workouts like Zumba or hip hop exist on YouTube. The idea that an at-home workout could be fun is something some of us - missing the positive camaraderie of the gym or a workout class - might find desperately tantalizing. They accomplished this by featuring celebrities, upbeat music, and a laid-back, welcoming vibe that said 'look how much fun we’re having!'" "In the early 1980s, most women still didn't work out-for generations they had been told that vigorous exercise was 'unfeminine,'" Friedman said "Fitness gurus needed a way to make working out feel approachable, aspirational, and maybe even a little glamorous, since so many adult women had been raised to believe they weren’t physically gifted or natural athletes. While founder Judi Sheppard Missett leads her smiling class in box steps and knee kicks, the refrain sung over and over in the song is "Jazzercise it. One early Jazzercise video is set to a custom funky-meets-jazzy muzak-ish song. Watching retro workout videos today, the concept of "fun" stands out as alien almost as strongly as the neon leotards. "But as the science of exercise evolved, working out itself has become more of a science, and with that seriousness, it’s been stripped of some of the fun." "In these relatively early days of the fitness industry, most popular workouts were gentler and easier than what we see today," Danielle Friedman, a journalist currently working on a book about the history of women's fitness, told Mashable. More problematically, they were also unabashedly positioned as a way to lose fat and get slim. The bright leggings, celebrity hosts, and relentless positivity was a way to introduce a new legion of working women to the idea that being active was good for you. The workout videos of the '80s and early '90s that we would call "retro" today are mostly about getting your heart pumping, and maybe doing some light strength training while also having fun. Jazzercise back in the day was a colorful affair.

Satoshi kamiya phoenix'12/8/2022 Here's another amazing rendition of Satoshi Kamiya's phoenix. Phoenix V.1, Designed and Folded by Neelesh K This design started from a waterbomb base and ended in this awesome multiple tailed phoenix. Phoenix, Designed by Satoshi Kamiya and Folded by P. Colman got this amazing looking phoenix to stand up like that but it certainly makes for an awesome photo. Little Phoenix, Designed and Folded by Gen HagiwaraĬrease pattern available from Gen Hagiwara's Flickr This is a very simple design but it's still super cute. Phoenix, Designed by Satoshi Kamiya and Folded by Thamar van Dijk ![]() This is Satoshi Kamiya's phoenix again but it's folded into a bit of a different position then normal. Phoenix, Designed and Folded by Antoine S. Here's another great origami phoenix that looks like it's bursting out of a fire. Phoenix, Designed by Nham Van Son and Folded by Xu Daniel It looks very similar to a Ho-Oh from Pokemon which I guess makes sense since that Pokemon is designed after a phoenix. This is a completely different and incredibly complex looking origami phoenix designed by Nham Van Son. Phoenix, Designed by Satoshi Kamiya and Folded by Malleon Here's Satoshi Kamiya's phoenix design again. Phoenix, Designed and Folded by Fukuroi Kazuki (Photo by Hiroaki Kobayashi) Phoenix, Designed and Folded by Vincent AchardĪt the 22th Origami Tanteidan convention recently Fukuroi Kazuki showed off this spectacular phoenix. Here's a different origami phoenix design by Vincent Achard that really has a lot of character. Phoenix, Designed by Satoshi Kamiya and Folded by Yery J. The entire phoenix is folded from one sheet of paper. ![]() Here's a great photo that really shows off the size of this amazing model. Phoenix, Designed by Satoshi Kamiya and Folded by Yuki.N. Phoenix, Designed by Satoshi Kamiya and Folded by Thamar van Dijkĭiagrams available in Works of Satoshi Kam– 2009 When it comes to origami phoenixes Satoshi Kamiya probably has the most famous design. Rather than including some origami phoenixes in posts about those topics I decided to create a new post completely dedicated to the origami phoenix since there's surprisingly a lot of really awesome designs. #origami #paperfold #paperart #papiroflexia #photography #papercraft #design #art #arte #craft #treefrog #rana #green #verde #mithology #origamitatto #origamifun #handmade #satoshikamiya #折り紙 #mexico #zacatecas #nature #animal #paperfoldig #diseñoThe phoenix is a mythological creature that you see appear in Egyptian, Greek and Chinese mythology. Special thanks to who with his amzing fold of this same model inspired me and motivated me to achieve this shaping. ![]() The first step is done)įirst of all, a huge thanks to Phạm Hoàng Tuấn who gave me this and more of his beautiful and unique papers to test them. This is the one that caught my attention more and immediately thought of making the kamiya frog with it, a very special and unique paper with great benefits for origami, I don't wanted to waste it so I pushed my shaping skills to the limit in order to achieve the best possible result and I think I did it, for me this is my best work in terms of shaping, again many thanks to Pham Hoàng Tuân his beautiful paper was perfect for this model. I don't know whether I'll touch them but I always want to fold them to the back, to align with the abdomen. I've already added extra pleats to abdomen now I have to shape the head properly.įinally, the wings. Next, I want to work more on the details of head and body. I want to shape it in my own way, I want to make something between Kamiya's Wasp 2.0 and Lang's Yellow Jacket but using more productive base which 2.6 has. I know that's the part of Kamiya's original design but it looks perfect for me just in his own versions. While the head is rather OK, the body is just weird. But honestly I should to because I have some interesting ideas about modifying it.įirst of all I want to make the head and the body more 3D. It takes ages to fold one so I don't know when I'll fold it again. I used 40x40cm square of Tissue paper which isn't small but tissue paper is too soft. Now I'm very glad that I acheived more or less satisfactory result. That's something I always wanted to fold. Origami Wasp 2.6 designed by Satoshi Kamiya and folded by Ivan Svatko.

Pocahontas 212/8/2022 Lion King 1 ½: As a sequel it busts the original’s continuity straight to hyena infested hell buuuuut…great cast, really nice animation, some genuinely funny gags and Diggah Tunnah is honestly a good enough song that it could have been in the original movie (and a good song in a Disney sequel is a rare, precious thing indeed).īambi 2: Patrick Stewart as the Prince of the Forest. King of Thieves: Robin Williams back as the genie, some much needed delving into Aladdin’s backstory and a fairly satisfying conclusion to the story of the Agrabah gang. Maybe not a great movie but a very decent pilot for a better than decent TV show. Return of Jafar: Obviously (OBVIOUSLY) not as good as Aladdin but it actually did some interesting stuff plot wise by giving Iago a character arc and actually leaving a real, lasting change to the status quo by having him become a hero. In fact, let’s play the game that’s taking the globe by storm, Mouse Says Nice Things About Disney Sequels For As Long As He Can! And while all of the Disney cheapquels are objectively worse than the movies they were based on, that doesn’t mean that they were entirely without merit. “Oh yeah, sure, I understand, I just dedicated FIVE YEARS OF MY LIFE to this, no biggie.”īut, y’know. If Disney Toons had somehow made a sequel to The Little Mermaidthat was even better, they wouldn’t have released it straight to video, right? They’d have given it a full theatrical release and made it an official entry in the canon like The Rescuers Down Underor Winnie the Pooh (is Winnie the Pooh still in the canon? Disney?) None of the direct to video sequels made for the canon movies are as good as or better than the movies they are based on. Are they really as bad as all that? Well… Today, I review a direct to video Disney sequel, the cinematic equivalent of hiring a prostitute to dress up like your high school sweetheart, something beautiful and pure rendered tawdry and mercenary. Come and witness as my last scrap of virtue is torn away. ![]() My very first post on this blog, half a goddamn decade ago, set out some rules that I swore I’d follow come hell or high water: |
